Life on the Road?
July 21, 2010
Now that I’m on tour with Lady GaGa, I remembered the popular late 80′s music video trend portraying the ‘hard life on the road’.
Yeah…. having tons of fans, booze and groupies is really hard….

Good blog! Lots of good ol’ fashion music videos, not my type of music but I appreciate the imagery.
man that must be fun to be on the road with your best friends. i hope you join gaga on the next leg of touring that will hit new zealand!
PS LOVE the inclusion of patience – gnr video. that is seriously a great video!
My darling you forgot Turn the Page by Metallica. Yes, I KNOW the original is Bob Seger, but I like the Metallica cover much better. Also it stays with the theme of 80′s metal bands. I think this fits:
I was at the Toronto Mb in the corner, screaming at you to play metallica. will see you soon at LA MB.
also, patience was always one of my favs, beautiful song.
The Metallica version was decent, but I still prefer Seger’s.
Not an 80′s metal band, but Rush’s Making Memories off of FBN paints a slightly brighter and less alcohol-infused picture of road life. They kept it straight, but they kept it real.
“We feel no need to worry, no reason to be sad.
Our memories remind us, maybe road life’s not so bad.”
James Hetfield is like French. He can stand there and say the most absurd things but it will sound awesome. I grew up listening to Metallica. no matter how much their new shit sucks (st. anger anyone?), will never stop loving them. so yah Metallica > Bob Seger
You forgot the most classick one of all.
Motley Crue — Home, Sweet Home
Gaga should cover that now that she has a band.
See ya in Dallas 7/23!!
I’ll be coming up from Austin, so let me know if you host an afterparty!!
Zappa had a great song about life on the road called” Road Ladies.” My favorite line was “You have nothing but promoters and groupies to love you and there’s a pile of laundry by the hotel door.” Try to remember as much as you can. Take it all in. This is one adventure that you will cherish forever. I was talking to a friend this morning about your and Gaga’s performance at the 2007 Lollapalooza. I commented that both of you have picked up a few fans since then. I hope to see you when you come to Chicago.
